OSHA Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Standard Hazard Assessment Policy
I. PURPOSE
As part of its commitment to employee health and safety, ENPOINTE has developed this plan for conducting PPE Hazard Assessments in accordance with the requirements established by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.132(d). This policy establishes the steps ENPOINTE will take to ensure that employee are adequately protected from workplace hazards.
II SCOPE
This PPE Hazard Assessment Policy will:
-Define the hazard assessment process used by ENPOINTE personnel
-Identify what types of PPE are needed on-site and when it must be used
-Train personnel on the proper use and care of PPE available on-site
-Establish a procedure for identifying new hazards and reviewing existing hazard assessments at a reasonable frequency
III. PPE HAZARD ASSESSMENT PROCESS
ENPOINTE has conducted specific hazard assessments and these are listed within this program. OSHA’s “Non-mandatory Compliance Guidelines for Hazard Assessments and PPE Selection” was used as a guide for conducting these hazard assessments.
IV. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT USED ON SITE
On-site PPE is limited to safety glasses, goggles, face shields, aprons, various types of gloves and hearing protection devices.
V. EMPLOYEE TRAINING ON USE AND AVAILABILITY OF PPE
Employees receive training on proper use, care, and disposal of PPE upon initial assignment to their position and receive an annual refresher in conjunction with Employee Right-to-Know training. Employees are encouraged to discuss PPE concerns with their Department Manager, Safety Compliance Manager or Safety Committee member.
VI. PERIODIC REVIEW OF HAZARD ASSESSMENT
Hazard Assessments will be reviewed annually and modified as necessary. The Compliance Manager, working closely with the Safety Committee and ENPOINTE Management, will review and assess hazards associated with new production activities to implementation of new production processes.
