Confined Space Entry Program

ENPOINTE Confined Space Entry Policy

I. PURPOSE

As part of its commitment to employee health and safety, ENPOINTE has developed this policy for Confined Space Entry in accordance with the requirements established by OSHA 29 CFR 1910-146.

II. SCOPE

This ENPOINTE Confined Space Entry Policy will:

  • inform ENPOINTE personnel of hazards presented by confined spaces;
  • establish the NO ENTRY policy for all ENPOINTE employees; and
  • clearly establish the responsibility of outside contractors to use proper confined space entry techniques when required to enter any potential on-site permit-required confined spaces.

III. POLICY

A confined space is a space that has limited ingress or egress, has poor natural ventilation and is not equipped for continuous human occupancy. ENPOINTE employees are PROHIBITED from entering any permit-required confined spaces at ENPOINTE facilities. If entry to any confined space by ENPOINTE employees becomes necessary in the future, prior authorization, training, and permitting will need to be completed before such entry can be undertaken. Entry by outside contractor personnel will be controlled by the procedure outlined in the following section.

CONFINED SPACE ENTRY BY OUTSIDE CONTRACTORS

Outside contractors who perform service/maintenance work at ENPOINTE requiring confined space entry must comply with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146. Contractors are expected to have a Confined Space Entry Program, training, and permit system in place to assure that safe entry techniques are followed. ENPOINTE will assure that any known conditions regarding the confined space(s) to be entered are clearly conveyed to the contractor prior to entry. Any conditions observed by the contractor which could affect future safe entry must be conveyed to ENPOINTE management by the contractor before leaving the site. As always, the responsibility for complying with this and all health and safety regulations resides squarely with the contractor.
